SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Caribbean nationals in the United States who are pushing to be included as a separate category in that country's census count are about to launch 'CaribID 2010', a campaign to urge the government to allow them to be counted as the 17th group on the census form in 2010.

Census Campaign for Accurate Caribbean Count to Kick off in New York “Being visible in America begins and ends with the U.S. Census,” proclaimed CaribID2010 chair Felicia Persaud, in announcing a campaign with widespread support among those of Caribbean descent living in the United States for the Census Bureau to “ finally recognize our existence. “If you don’t get counted you don’t exist in many important ways.”
